Deborah Walsh Graduates

December 11

ILNV Executive Director Deborah Walsh has graduated from Leadership Victoria’s prestigious Williamson program.

The graduation ceremony celebrated 20 years of Williamson’s Community Leadership Program.

Throughout the year Deborah played an instrumental role in introducing her Williamson colleagues to Indigenous community issues.

“It was encouraging to witness the amount of goodwill and intention there is out there to support Indigenous people,” Deborah said.

“I think I dispelled a few myths around Aboriginal people they may have had and showed them some of the positive things that are happening in our communities rather than all the negative deficit model stuff out there.”

“The most surprising thing for them was to see the initiative of some of the younger generation who were stepping up and taking leadership roles.”

Deborah said she learned a lot about leadership theory and experienced an array of inspiring leadership models through out the course of her leadership training.

“It gave me access to places I had never dreamed of going, to learn about leadership techniques and principals that I could apply in my leadership journey.”
